We were cheerful to be back at our resort after the long day, the neighborhood was packed for a festival, and my associate and I always came here in the winter time, however this year my buddy and I decided to come in the middle of the Summer to the hot chili festival.

My associate and I appreciated seeing outdated friends, seeing the hot new flavors as well as mingling in the entertainment.

My associate and I knew the heat index would be high, however my buddy and I came prepared… At least my buddy and I thought my buddy and I came prepared. My associate and I got to the festival as well as got our portable spinner fans out that sprayed water, kind of like the ones at roller coaster parks… Finding our outdated friends proved difficult at first in the crowd, they wanted to come stay with us at our resort as well as ditch theirs! They said it was overly crowded as well as they wanted to come up in the mountains with us. My associate and I were hiking all week while the festival was going on as well as my buddy and I had our portable AC going in the resort, the a/cs there were outdated as well as kind of sucky. My associate and I knew my buddy and I had to bring our own gear. My associate and I got to hiking, fishing as well as my buddy and I took photos however by the end of the day my buddy and I were tired. My associate and I were not cheerful to find our portable AC unclogged by the cleaners who came, leaving it off as well as the room was steaming with hot air when my buddy and I came back home. My associate and I called up, got a discount as well as demanded they leave our appliances alone when checking our room. My associate and I were steamy from the air as well as from the ordeal.

Cooling down or beating the heat has been a goal of civilization forever, but shade, ice, water, wind, fans and everything else devised has been to stay cool.

There are ways mother nature offers us cooling off and staying warm. There aren’t as various ways naturally but my associate and I have come a long way with heating and cooling and have invented amazing things. The modern air conditioner is an instance of a technological feat, enabling us to cool down entire buildings. The seasoned civilizations of the world had some superb ideas and dreams, but unluckyly technology was far behind them. The discovery of electricity is the grounds of all things my associate and I have now that use it of course, but so various things do use electricity! Cars, air conditioners, heaters, microwaves, televisions and various more things make our lives easier and better usually and they all came from ideas or discoveries! One of the most crucial inventions for relaxation and cooling down was of course the modern air conditioner, when it first came out people were in awe. It was a dream come true, coming house to a push of the button and instant frigid air in your home. Some people only dreamed of this, tepid workers for years just put up with the heat or got used to it. My buddy and I still adapt and evolve but being lazier and staying comforted is the key to relaxing, being comfortable in your house is the most crucial. Heating and cooling my associate and I have now allows that.

Carlos said he doesn’t have any student loans

I wasn’t too thrilled when my daughter started dating Carlos. Emily is a smart girl. She went to college. She got her Master’s Degree. That is why I always saw her with a lawyer or a doctor or someone like that. But then Carlos came along. Carlos went to trade school for boiler repair and HVAC work. So I didn’t really like him. That is, before I met him. Once I met Carlos I could see what Emily saw in him. He is a nice young man and he read a lot of books. It is easy to hold an intelligent conversation with him. I still hoped that Emily would marry someone who makes a bit more money. I don’t know why but I just assumed that Carlos made minimum wage working in boilers and HVAC. I reminded myself that Emily makes a lot of money on her own so maybe I should be so critical. After all, she could be the one who brings home the bacon. It wasn’t until yesterday that I found out that Carlos makes almost $30 an hour! I had no idea that HVAC workers made so much money. That is more money than I make and I’ve been working in accounting for over 30 years now. It is even more money than Emily is making and she has hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans she is still trying to pay off. Carlos said he doesn’t have any student loans. He borrowed a few thousand from his uncle to go to trade school for HVAC. Then he paid his uncle back within 2 years of completing his certification. Wow!

Our furnace stopped working last spring and we never got it fixed.

After all, warmer weather was almost here.

Besides, a space heater kept us warm enough for a month or two. But then fall arrived and we still hadn’t gotten the furnace fixed. However, Christmas was coming and we just couldn’t afford to get the furnace fixed professionally. Instead, I hired a friend of my neighbors to fix it for us. The cost was only $100 and he got it working in a few hours. I was thrilled. That is until we were all watching TV and we all started feeling sleepy. I looked over at my 2 year old son and noticed that his face was bright red. That didn’t seem right. Then I remembered that people get sleepy and red faced when there is a carbon monoxide issue in the house. I quickly used my O2 sensor on my finger and found that my oxygen levels were way lower than they should be. I grabbed up the kids, woke up my husband, and we all ran outside. My husband got some fresh air then went inside and turned off the furnace and opened the windows while I took the kids to the hospital. We were all ok, thank God. But that is the last time I will use a non-licensed person to work on my furnace. We are keeping the furnace turned off and we are calling up a licensed HVAC company to come out and fix our furnace right. My family’s lives are worth the extra money.

When we were in the market for a new home we found one we liked a lot.

There was only one problem: the HVAC system didn’t work.

The house had built in central heating and cooling but neither the heater nor the air conditioner worked at all. The house had been listed for almost a year so we put in a stipulation that we would buy the house but only if the original owners replaced the HVAC system. Well they replace the HVAC system and we have now been living in our new house for about 9 months. All was going well until the heater suddenly stopped working. We called up a local HVAC company and they looked our heater over. After that they looked over our entire HVAC system. Apparently we got shafted. This HVAC system is the cheapest of the cheap. HVAC companies don’t even sell them. You have to order them online and then install them yourself or hire a handyman to install it. Apparently we were lucky the HVAC system lasted this long. They are known to only last about 6 months. So now we have to get a whole new HVAC system installed. Yes, we did double check what the HVAC company told us. We didn’t just take their word for it. But everything they said was completely true. So now we need to fork over about 6 thousand dollars for a new HVAC system that will last us for a decade or more. That is such a pain but at least we will know the HVAC system is decent.

I had no idea how important climate control apparently is to professionally painting. My finance is a painter and she is really good. She had already sold a few of her paintings and gotten quite a bit of money doing so. It wasn’t until last year that she actually started making enough money that she could quit her day job. I have seen her painting studio in the finished basement of her home. It is very nice. However, I was paying a lot more attention to the special sound system she has set up and I didn’t notice the HVAC system at all. However, I got schooled on how important proper temperatures and humidity are to painting recently. That is because we are going to buy a house together and move about one thousand miles to the north. I got a great job opportunity there. Since my finance can paint from home she was fine with moving. However, she said we absolutely must get good climate control in the basement. This means a built in humidifier, dehumidifier, heating and cooling. Now that I understand why we just need to figure out the specifics. I am leaning towards having humidity control in the whole home. After all, the HVAC vents go into the finished basement in the new home too. My fiance thinks it would be better to have a separate system for the basement because she might want it really hot or really cold and not want the whole house at that temperature. That makes sense too but it will cost us more.

I don’t mean to come across as one of those Americans who talks about people in other countries as though they are lesser and in need of our help either

There is always something to be thankful for but it’s easy to forget that fact. This is especially true when you’re going through trying times. However last year, I went on a missionary trip to a small country for almost a month. I had a lot of fun and I was happy to be able to help the people in need. However, I really realized how great we have it here in the US. It was strange how happy other people could be with so little. It was on this mission trip that I realize that you can be happy with almost nothing. It also taught me to be thankful for our air conditioning systems here in the developed world. That month I did mission work was a month without air conditioning. It was also a month in one of the hottest areas of the Earth. When I got back to the US, and back to my home, I was so happy to just sit in front of my air conditioner and feel the nice cool air once again. I started noticing all of the little things that I take for granted every day. Air conditioning is just one of them. Clean running water, indoor plumbing, and access to healthcare are also things that I take for granted. Many people in the world don’t have these things. I don’t mean to come across as one of those Americans who talks about people in other countries as though they are lesser and in need of our help either. That is absolutely not the case. We just happened to live in a place that is at a different stage of development (one with air conditioning) that’s all.
