Making it through the cold winters

It’s as though I get sadder just a bit more with every Winter that I have to endure.

  • It’s the snow and the ice and cold.

It’s all bad and it’s knocking me down. This is why I get an overwhelming sense of dread whenever I feel the first frosty breeze in the fall. It makes me shudder both because it’s frosty cold, plus for what it foretells. At least, I use the first frosty wind to remind myself to have the HVAC tech come out to check out our furnace. I had such a great childhood growing up away from all this cold weather! There seemed to be endless sunny days plus clear skies where I grew up. The worst that Winter could do was maybe forcing me to wear a jacket plus some jeans for a week. Oh man, I can’t believe I gave all that sunshine up. I didn’t even know what a furnace was. The two of us only had an HVAC heat pump. But now, I get the shivers just thinking about how I’m going to handle another whole brutal winter. The snow, the ice, and trying to keep the cold at bay. It can just be too much for a Southern boy to deal with. There are times I walk out to shovel and I take one look and I’ll just walk back inside my house. It’s almost like what’s the point. Thankfully, the HVAC does a great task of keeping the loft warm at my house. As long as I don’t transfer from my cozy spot, I’m fine. Of course, that just doesn’t happen. I keep putting in for a transfer back to the land of the sunshine for work, but I just hope that I can make it through another cold winter.
