The gardener who later owned the most successful home comfort business in town
When I was married, we had this gardener who was the best at his job.
Our garden and lawn were the talk and envy of our neighbors.
We all loved him. He worked hard and was very creative. He was newly married and after a few years with us, we built him and his family a small house on our property, the servants’ quarters. He sometimes doubled up as a gateman. He had an interest in the heating corp business for a few years and he admired my dad who was a heating technician. Whenever dad was replacing our boiler’s furnace filters, he would ask to help. He was unconsciously training under my dad. He also built us our fireplace that mum loved. When we later got the central heating, I remember seeing him with the team all through the installation process. He would help them lift and move the heavy equipment. This made the installation of the new HVAC seamless. He was gradually finding out more about heating the more he observed the boiler repair processes. His interest in heating products grew and one time he even fixed the dial thermostat. He later left after almost two decades with us. 5years later when I was visiting the heating provider for a heater for sale, I bumped into him and he told me of his home comfort business. He was very excited and took me around his company showing me the facility and feeling very proud. He also thanked me for helping him through life and for always giving him advice. He now knew more about heating on a professional level. He even got me furnace filters for sale for my furnace.
