When our boys were in middle school, they had to take a wood-working shop.
Most of the boys made little tables or a blanket holder.
My boys made me a handmade rocking chair and two matching handmade side chairs. They got their wifeys to make the cushions for all three items and to make a cushion for the hand made gliding ottoman. I never realized our boys had so much talent, and it didn’t surprise me when they opted to go into a furniture making business together. The three boys made such beautiful furniture that they had orders for special handmade furniture for the next three years. If I were paying for a houseful of furniture that these people paid for a single item, I would have wanted it done within a month, and not two or three years. The people patiently waited for their handmade, custom designed chairs, tables, and anything imaginable. My boys keep telling me they have a legitimately special anniversary present for our partner and I. I couldn’t imagine having anything from them that could match our handmade furniture that was in the kitchen. For our anniversary they made us a maple waterfall bed with matching side tables. My partner and I had obtained our bed at a second hand store. It was new to us, and we had it for the last forty years. When they provided us the new bed, I cried for hours, even though I couldn’t help it. I thought our kitchen oak chairs were our favorite things in the house, however our handmade oak bed set really has me second-guessing our favorite wood furniture.
