My roommate & I were blessed to get a temperature control in our freshman dorm room
My first year of college was absolutely full of ups & downs.
I went to a small liberal arts college in our condo state.
It was nice to finally be surrounded by other students that share your interests & beliefs, but it was suffocating occasionally. The two of us had a smaller student population than the high college I had just left, & you could recognize the social pressure at times. Despite any concerns being in college for the first time, I was incredibly blessed with the roommate I was assigned to our freshman year. The two of us were both introverted & appreciated much of the same music, films, & TV shows. And since all of us are both writers, that was another shared trait that all of us could bond over. The room all of us were put in was newly renovated & well as had 1 large feature that most dorm rooms on that campus lack—an adjustable temperature control for the A/C & furnace. Most of the dorm rooms had temperature controls that were locked by the administration & controlled remotely from a central location in the administrative building. Ours wasn’t locked, & in retrospect I think this was an oversight on their part. It was great because all of us could make the room as frigid as all of us wanted in the summer time & Spring while making it seriously warm & toasty in Autumn & winter. That temperature control in our freshman dorm room was an amazing amenity to have as a new college student. The two of us were much more comfortable with our indoor air compared to other students. Sadly, our dorm room in our sophomore year had a locked temperature control.
