Feeling ticked off

My partner and I currently live in a neighborhood with over 50 houses, however although there are a lot of homes, we’re a tight-knit community. All of us have neighborhood meetings, there’s an HOA, plus an official committee to represent the houses here, and my spouse and I truly enjoy just how close pretty much everyone is because our teenagers are able to roam about the neighborhood with their friends plus the two of us feel safe. All of us don’t have any complications with theft or burglary, plus pretty much everyone looks out for one another. However, one of the downfalls about a tight-knit community is that there are no secrets. Each time that there’s a small piece of gossip, it spreads love wildfire; This made things seriously difficult for us when the two of us fired our neighbor’s son as our HVAC worker. He was the HVAC worker for the whole city, which is why the two of us hired him in the first place. All of us were using him for more than a few years, but weren’t super impressed with his work. He was always late, there were always complications with our HVAC system even though the two of us hired him a few times each year to examine the equipment, plus the two of us were not sure he was really doing anything. Whenever I tried to ask him questions about the HVAC unit, he never provided myself and others a straight answer. My lover and I thought long and hard about firing him, because the two of us knew what the repercussions would be from the rest of the community. However, the two of us didn’t want to keep paying for maintenance . The two of us weren’t enthusiastic and ended up paying for a brand new HVAC system.
