My desire to self install new HVAC system doesn't go as planned
I am a very proactive guy with a great desire to learn as many things as I possibly can.
But this week, I got involved with HVAC installation at my friend’s place when they intended to upgrade their HVAC system.
Having learned so much more about HVAC in general, my friend suggested to his dad to let us do the swap but he wasn’t convinced. However, he allowed it under the watchful eye of an HVAC serviceman from the HVAC business supplying the heating and cooling equipment. He wasn’t worried because his air conditioner service plan was still active When the time came, the technician allowed us to help with uninstalling the old central air conditioning only, claiming he was ultimately responsible for the eventual outcome. Instead, he kept asking us about the steps leading to a successful installation of quality air conditioner, after the purchase of HVAC products for sale. His approach made me realize I wasn’t as quite prepared to touch the new HVAC technology as I thought. The one thing I got right was the seer ratings range and what they meant for any system. The exercise left me thinking I should start mastering smaller equipment such as air purifiers before graduating to larger items that require the hands of an experienced and licensed technician authorized to carry out HVAC maintenance. The knowledge I gathered from watching the technician perform the installation was enough to convince me to consider a different career path. As someone fascinated by such technical tasks, this was the closest I figured I could get involved in a hands-on job.
