Feeling better thanks to HVAC company cleaning the air ducts
To say that I was surprised by what the doctor suggested when I visited for a chest cold that wouldn’t go away is the understatement of the year.
- We were in the exam room because I couldn’t shed a cough and my sinus problem lasted for weeks.
Normally, a cold will last maybe a week and then I am done with it. I was really confused when the doctor kept asking about the indoor air quality of my home. She also asked about air filters and air ducts as well. Finally, she told me that she thought my lingering respiratory problems were related to the indoor air pollution in my house. Again, to say that I was surprised would be a huge understatement. As a family, we maintain a very clean and tidy house. There was no way the air inside our home wasn’t clean. But, the doctor suggested that I call the HVAC company to have them come out and do the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing. She’s the doctor, so I gave the HVAC professionals a call when I got home. The HVAC technicians were just great when they came out to do the ductwork cleaning and the ductwork resealing. Those HVAC professionals took their time and made sure to keep the inside of our house neat and clean. I will say that I was completely horrified by the stuff that came out of the ductwork. To add to the indoor air quality, I put in a HEPA filter after they left. My symptoms were gone within a day of having the ductwork cleaning completed. So I want to make keeping the indoor air quality a good priority.
