I rarely meet people who have something interesting to talk about
I’ve always been the kind of guy who prefers to keep work and private life separate. I have always passed on company parties and honestly I prefer to spend time at my own house and enjoy my fireplace and HVAC system. I actually have a truly advanced HVAC system in my home with radiant heated floors, rapid cooling, and a smart thermostat. I have a beautiful fireplace that I love relaxing in front of and that’s one of my favorite places to be. Well, this last holiday my boss insisted that I bring my wife to the company party. He was saying how it was a shame that I never came to these events and he said that I must be there. The pressure was on even though I really didn’t want to go. When I told my wife about it, she was actually excited and said we definitely should go. I decided I would go on this one occasion and so we went. I guess it wasn’t so bad but I still kept thinking about putting wood on the fireplace at home and relaxing back in my chair with some hot cocoa. When people talk to me at work parties or different social events, it’s all a bunch of nonsense small talk for the most part. I rarely meet people who have something interesting to talk about. I wouldn’t say I was a very interesting guy either. I’m more of an all business no play kind of guy and I don’t like to make things complicated. My wife said she had a good time and that we should go to these events more often, but I said that I would rather be at home.
