Every time I went to the doctor’s office over the last two years, he has told me he was going to send me to the nutritionist to get a customized nutrition program.
I finally agreed to go to the nutritionist, but it was not like the doctor had told me it would be.
I spoke to a nurse who weighed me in and took my vitals. She took me to a room where I waited for another fifteen minutes. When the nutritionist came into the office, she chatted with me for a few minutes and then she gave me sheets of paper to write everything I eat over the next two weeks. I assumed I was going to come back to see her. I didn’t see her, but I saw another person two weeks later. She took my paperwork and threw it in the trash. I couldn’t believe I spent all that time on a food log, just to have it dumped in the trash. After that, she started asking me what I wanted from the nutrition program? I told her the doctor said the nutritionist would give me a customized nutrition program. She agreed I would get a customized nutrition program, but she wanted to know what I expected from the program. I told her I wanted to lose some weight, and hopefully learn how to keep it off. When she told me I would have no choice but to keep the weight off. She told me that once I had the weight loss surgery, if I didn’t follow my diet, I would end up getting sick. This is not the customized nutrition program I was expecting..
