Garage apartment gets use thanks to HVAC
Now, the garage apartment is a great place for grandparents when they come for a visit
When we saw this house the first time, my wife and I both just fell in love with it. The place was just what we wanted. The space, the location and the floorplan were just all near perfect. The fact that we had a detached garage with living quarters above it was just a bonus. But thanks to HVAC technology, that garage apartment is getting new life and plenty of use. For years, my wife and I used the space above the garage for storage. I had the idea that perhaps I would renovate the space for something like a big office or study or something. However, I had a nice study in the main house and it was maintained with quality heating and air. The garage apartment had an old electric heating system that didn’t work and I found a very old window air conditioner in the garage. Needless to say, unless it was nice outside and you could open the windows, the garage apartment temperatures were not that comfortable. But as the kids grew and took over one of the guest rooms, the garage apartment needed to be utilized. So we had the HVAC company come out to install a ductless mini split inside the apartment. A ductless mini split is basically a ductless heat pump. And it’s a wonderful piece of HVAC technology because it’s easy to install, wonderfully efficient and very good at heating and cooling. Now, the garage apartment is a great place for grandparents when they come for a visit. They can be here and still have some privacy of their own. And the ductless heat pump makes their stay super comfortable.
