Learning how to deal with HVAC challenges in cold areas

Living in the North had its challenges.

I enjoyed the area since the two of us had a fantastic business running, but plus, my family wasn’t too far away, our beach house was in a lovely neighbourhood, and the kids enjoyed their school, the only downside was the long and brutal Winter times, and we had months of snow and ice, which wasn’t easy to cope with.

Last Wintertime, our air conditioning idea shut down. I wasn’t sure why because the two of us had called an A/C business over during the fall to service it. We couldn’t stay in a cold home, so the two of us booked a hotel downtown. I phoned the aircon repair and service company the next morning to come and check it out. When he arrived, my fiance and I were waiting, then first, he checked the temperature control for any faulty wires. But, it was now working fine, so he proceeded to the indoor system. The heating plus air conditioning expert had cleaned the air filter, so it didn’t have much dust and debris on it. Then, he proceeded to the outdoor air conditioning unit. When he opened it up, he noticed there was ice at the button. That was why the A/C had shut down the previous morning. It took some time and patience to thaw the ice and remove all the water! Some snow and ice must have fallen into the heating plus air conditioning unit despite being in a shaded area. Ice was interfering with the A/C performance, which resulted in it going off, but after fixing the issue and mending a few more faulty wires, he shielded the A/C better from the snow and ice. It was a temporary solution, but he commanded the two of us to build the outdoor air conditioning a better structure. The structure would keep it away from dust, debris, snow, and ice while allowing air to flow easily.
