Idioms

The English language is amazing because there are consistently numerous ways to say the same thing, however a “walk in the park” can be “a meander in a nature preserve” or even an “amble in the playing field”, and idioms are also popular, but they are often more obscure plus could require some explanation to those who take things literally… For example, the idiom “preaching to the choir” means that the speaker is making an fight to someone who already agrees with their point of view, however many idioms suggest against procrastination like “He who hesitates is lost” plus “The early birdie gets the worm”… The most popular idioms involve the weather or temperature, plus this is where I begin to get confused because they seem to apply to Heating & A/C systems.

The idiom “blow overheated plus cold” is supposed to mean a person who keeps increasing their opinion of something, but it describes perfectly what my Heating & A/C system does.

The phrase “chop out in a cold sweat” may mean what happens to people with anxiety concerns but it is also what happens on cool humid afternoons when my air conditioner decides to take a chop plus condensate forms on my walls plus windows, however last year, my wife “lost her cool” when I got “cold feet” over replacing our seasoned gas furnace plus A/C system. I was as “stubborn as a mule” against paying for a modern Heating & A/C system when I decided that an luxurious repair was the better option. That caused my Heating & A/C provider to turn to my wife plus exclaim, “A fool plus his currency are soon parted.” That idiom caused myself and others to get “hot under the collar” as every one of us shivered waiting for the ill-commanded gas furnace repair.
