If the air filter in your heating or cooling system is dirty and polluted, it will not work the way it should.

The air filter should trap dirt, dust, and indoor air pollutants.

When the air filter is gross and dirty, indoor air particles end up in the system and that can cause damage. Dust and dirt can cause furnace and air conditioner problems. It can cause problems with the evaporator foils and eventually lead to system breakdown. A clogged and dirty air filter can also lead to a fire. A few years ago, I was working as a volunteer firefighter and there was a call at 2:00 in the morning. Everyone hurried to get dressed as quickly as possible so we could contain the damage. The fire was down the street from my favorite video game store and I knew the building very well. The older building had not been remodeled in a long time. The ductwork was old and falling apart and the owner of the building was not taking care of the place. He was running the heat to keep the plumbing from freezing up, but he wasn’t handling regular maintenance or having someone else do it for him. The gross and dirty air filter caused a fire and half of the building was lost. I’m sure that the customer had insurance, but the building required a lot of construction in order to be viable again for use. It’s been about 10 years since the fire and the building is still in the same shape that it was and the lot is a disaster.

I have had a ton of work to get done this week. Work has been extremely busy and there have been a number of emergency repairs for commercial customers. Emergency repairs for commercial customers take a lot more time and require a license and certified member of our staff that is capable of handling commercial repairs. One of the items that needed to be done was a full system HVAC update. We were completely replacing the old HVAC system in the ice cream shop. We were also going to attempt to repair the refrigeration unit. I was not sure if we would be able to repair the refrigeration unit or not but I was going to do my best to try. I had two additional technicians with me when I went to the ice cream shop. The two technicians started working on removing all of the old equipment first. I put everything in the back of the building and I contacted another person to pick up the equipment to take back to the shop. We usually take the items apart and scrap them. If there’s anything we’re saving, we keep it. We don’t charge anything to remove all of the old equipment. It’s part of the fees that we charge for the entire installation project. The job on Thursday took most of the day and I was really trying to get done before the weekend. I did not want to work on Saturday when I already had plans to spend the day with my girlfriend. We planned to go to the beach and I did not want to disappoint her.

A lot of people are getting their heaters fixed up for the winter, but AC can also be used in the winter.

I bet that most people think of warm weather when they think of air conditioning, but air conditioning is also essential for cool weather. In the winter, your heating system works to keep your home warm by circulating heated air through a network of ducts. In the summer, your air conditioning system does the same thing, but with cool air. By circulating cooled air throughout your home, your air conditioner helps to maintain a comfortable temperature and prevent excessive humidity. All you need is a reliable air conditioner and a dial thermostat set to the temperature you desire. I won’t be running my AC this winter too much but it is always there if I need it. I have a few space heaters in the closet that can be used as a backup if the main unit goes out, but my central HVAC system is pretty reliable and I haven’t had to use the space heaters as my only source of heat for a long time. Signing up for an HVAC maintenance plan is a little more complicated than people may think.

The actual work that will be done for your HVAC system varies from contract to contract. HVAC maintenance contracts may include basic tune-ups. These may be scheduled for once or twice a year. Do you always seem to have one problem after another with your HVAC system? If your HVAC system seems to be temperamental, signing up for basic maintenance may very well be a boon to you. However, it is worth it to bear in mind that the older an HVAC system gets, the more problems are going to spring up. Everything breaks down over time, after all. Sometimes, it’s simply better to replace an old HVAC system instead of signing up for a maintenance plan to try and bang it to life on a regular basis. HVAC maintenance plans may also include preparing for seasonal changes. Life is hectic, so you may not remember to call out an HVAC expert to help you get your furnace ready for winter or your air conditioner ready for summer. Therefore, already having a plan in place for a scheduled visit to get ready for the more extreme temperatures of the year is quite beneficial. As you can see, there are many factors to consider when you decide whether or not you want an HVAC maintenance plan. First you have to determine what is offered in the plan. Then you have to examine your HVAC system and the climate you live in. Does your HVAC system break down a lot? Does it seem to use a lot of power inordinately? Do you have extreme summers and winters? These are all things to consider.

It’s completely understandable when a homeowner would prefer to have the same exact temperature on the thermostat year round.

After all, it’s not called climate control for nothing.

Everyone is different, and we all have a preferred temperature that makes us the most comfortable. However, it may not be realistic or practical to keep the same exact temperature on the thermostat year round, especially if you live in an area that has extreme temperature shifts throughout the seasons. Put simply, your thermostat should be set to a higher temperature in the summer than it is set to in the winter. This eases the burden on both your air conditioner and your furnace. It also prevents your energy bills from skyrocketing. It may seem obvious, but it’s worth mentioning that the more significant the difference between the temperature you set for your home and the temperature it is outside, the more work your HVAC system needs to put in. Let’s assume for a moment that a homeowner would prefer to have their temperature at a constant 72 degrees all year round. If the climate they live in is mild nearly all year round, this might not actually be a big deal. However, if for example, it is triple-digit degrees outside in the middle of the summer, the air conditioner is going to have to work hard to change the temperature inside 30 + degrees cooler. Now, what if in that same area, the winters are also brutal? Needless to say, that person’s furnace is going to have to heat their home to several dozen degrees cooler if it’s in the single digits out to maintain that wanted 72 degrees. Therefore, bringing the temperature closer to 80 degrees in the summer, and closer to 60 degrees in the winter, is much more cost-efficient and will put much less strain on your HVAC system.

Quite often, people seem to be very concerned about outdoor air quality.

There’s even a rating for it on weather websites that indicate pollen levels, pollution levels, etc.

Well it is true that any sensible person prefers their outdoor air quality in their town or neighborhood to be nice and clean, or at the very least bearable, people don’t often seem to take their indoor air quality just as seriously. That’s why it might behoove you to get an indoor air quality test. Indoor air quality tests check for such things as allergens and mold, which may very well be floating around in your air. These are the biological elements that can be tested for during an air quality test. It is also possible that chemical pollutants can be present in your air. Lead may be something to look out for, for example. Lead might be present in homes, especially if they are particularly old. Other chemicals, like radon or even formaldehyde, have been detected in homes in which people live who may very well otherwise have had no idea that they were breathing it. Finally, there are also combustible pollutants, like second-hand smoke, or even carbon monoxide, which is extremely deadly. If you are concerned about such air pollutants, and you really should be, your local HVAC company may be able to do an indoor air quality test, so that you may see what exactly it is that you’re breathing every day. Once the test is taken, you may very well be better off getting some sort of air purifier or filter, so that your indoor air quality is healthy!

Most people seem to be content with using regular air filters for their HVAC system.

While it is true that in most cases regular air filters will do the job just fine, under certain circumstances you might consider using more advanced filters.

But what exactly do these more advanced filters do? Well, it depends on what kind of air filter we’re talking about. First, the standard air filter blocks larger particles like dust, dirt, and hair. Filters made of spun fiberglass are the absolute cheapest, but they are also the least efficient. Other basic filters are made of cardboard and paper, which provide a bit more efficiency, but not much. Both of these types of filters are meant to be disposable, and there’s no real point in attempting to clean them; you just replace them. HEPA filters are far more effective at trapping both larger and finer particles. HEPA filters boast the ability to block 99.97% of contaminants in the air. HEPA filters are disposable as well, but they do not need to be replaced nearly as often as the other kinds of cheaper air filters. Surprisingly, HEPA air filters only need to be replaced every 6 to 12 months compared to cheaper air filters that may need to be replaced as often as once every two months, but more often, once every 90 days. Finally, you have reusable air filters, which are far more efficient and permanent. These air filters are also known as washable air filters, or electrostatic filters. True to their name, electrostatic air filters use static electricity to attract foreign particles. Though they are far more efficient and permanent, you should clean them once every thirty days.

One would say that my dad really soiled me, unlike my brothers.

This seemed to be a thing for everyone as my brothers did not spare me. Mom tried to be a bit hard on me sometimes but I was her little princess and still got away with a lot even when dealing with mama. He jumped at the opportunity without questioning it because he had been requesting for a PS5 and this was the chance for him to call in the favor. He would have to do a few more things to earn it though but I had no way out this time round. The one we had been using was over 30 years old since the house we lived in for the past decade previously belonged to my grandparents.

After too much insistence we finally gave in to her request and embarked on a search.We started with the local HVAC store in town where mom had talked to the HVAC business owner. He was not around but a few of his employees were. The HVAC techs we spoke to were polite and very accommodating. They walked us through the different HVAC equipment they had in stock. We needed a system that would be easy to run and most importantly serve us long enough to offer the real value for cash. We didn’t mind spending a little more to get the best too. With this in mind, one of the HVAC professionals talked to us about a hybrid heat pump. This was a pretty new invention in the market but perfect for people seeking convenience and longevity. The fact that the heating and cooling unit worked interchangeably depending on the season made it more interesting. It sounded like the kind of HVAC system my parents would love. We wanted to hear more about it and the HVAC contractor went further to show us a demo. We fell in love with this kind of system as it would mean less stress and we didn’t have to worry about switching from the furnace to AC and vice versa like we did with the old system. After exploring several other systems, it was clear that this was the best fit for us. We paid for it and the HVAC company was to send the right experts to install the system in a week’s time.
