My smart thermostat always reminds me when to change my air filters. This is something that I find to be completely amazing, since it’s always something that I have struggled with remembering to do. I’m not the greatest at remembering things like when to change the water filter in the refrigerator or the oil filter in my car. The worst thing of all for me, though, has always been trying to be able to remember when to do my HVAC maintenance and service work, including getting my air filters changed in the heating and cooling system. My HVAC system just has never been something that I think about on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, I never really think about my oil furnace nor my central air conditioning system at all unless one of them stops working. Let’s face it. It’s just easy to forget all about the indoor air quality in your house unless the house isn’t heating up or cooling off the way that it’s supposed to. It’s one of those things that you never really think about until it’s not working. I have to admit that I absolutely take my heating and cooling system for granted, and I’m not really proud of that fact. At least last year I took matters into my own hands and decided that I was going to have to do something about remembering to get the tune ups and maintenance work done on the HVAC system myself. That’s when I did some research into different types of thermostat units and I came across something called a digital programmable smart thermostat unit. It actually sends me alerts when it’s time to change my air filters and to have my HVAC maintenance done!
