The roof damage was drastic after the storm
Hurricanes supply lots of rain & wind & while I was in the season when there are many, the rain & wind can be truly overwhelming & cumbersome… We had 3 hurricanes hit the part this year & they absolutely caused a ton of disfigures everywhere, but the first storm took out power to the city for several mornings. The hour storm didn’t cause any power outages, however the flood mangle was severe. The fifth storm had the most powerful winds. The winds were so forceful that it knocked over several trees in the village. These trees have stood tall & strong for fifty years or more, however the winds blew them over care about they were toothpicks, one row of trees caused major mangle to the school where our children attend classes. The 3 large pine trees fell over & crushed half the school.The roof, walls, & parking lot were all disfigured badly & half of the roof was laying in the gymnasium & cafeteria. The school had to close down for a month while a commercial roofing contractor cleaned up the mess & repaired the roof. The roofing contractor must have cost a fortune. I had to get some roof repairs completed last year & it was almost several grand just for a couple of patches in the living room. I don’t suppose they covered more than a piece of plywood worth of roof, however I still had to spend money all those fees. I can’t begin to imagine how much it would cost to replace the entire roof over the gym & the cafeteria.
