I went to the river every day to cool off in the summer
Some people from school decided to go on a long extended break during the summer, but I’m really glad that I decided to stay home and work at a summer camp program.
The experience was wonderful and it’s going to look great on any job application in the future.
I got the job working at a summer camp. I knew it was going to be a lot of fun to work with the kids. One of my friends from school worked at the summer camp program the previous summer and she got me the job. We were both put in the arts and crafts room. It was a lot of fun to come up with ideas and projects that we could do with the kids. The 6-week camp program was by the river and we had access to the water anytime that we wanted. Some of the days, the temperatures were above 90. During one specific week, the temperatures were over 100°, five days in a row. I went to the river every afternoon to cool off. None of the cabins had air conditioning, so we had no way to cool down at the end of a long day. The lack of air conditioning was the only downfall to the entire summer experience. If the temperature had been 10° perfect, air conditioning wouldn’t have mattered and it would have been the most amazing experience of my whole life. I hope that the summer camp will invite me back to work again next year. The experience was certainly one that I won’t forget. I made a lot of friends and some of those people ended up at the same college as me.
