The expensive heat pump was worth it
Grandpa wanted to see his great-grandkids last summer.
Instead of stressing him with travels to our home, we opted to turn it into a road trip to the farm.
We managed to rent a lovely camper from a friend and have it serviced. Since we were taking vacation time from work, my partner and I knew we’d enjoy the drive. We started the journey on a Saturday and didn’t get to the farm until Tuesday. We passed so many great places and had the best experience out of the city with the kids. Grandpa was so happy to see us and had lots of presents for his great-grandkids. As the evening came, the house became a little chilly, so I requested he turn on the heat pump. Grandpa said he had turned it off last spring. The heat pump was old and did a poor job heating the space. My partner and I spoke about it and decided to replace the unit for him. Grandpa had always been there for me, and this was the least I could do for him. We called the AC supplier in town to deliver the right heat pump to the farm. All this was done when grandpa was out in the fields with the kids seeing the new calves. We also got an HVAC worker to remove the old heat pump and install a new one. The heat pump was in the basement of the house. By the time grandpa and the kids were coming back, the HVAC worker was done. The heat pump had transformed the house, and grandpa noticed the minute he got into the house. He was so happy we’d replaced the aging unit for him.
