I tried to install a thermostat

When it comes to doing things around the house, I am a jack of all trades.

It started from necessity, because at the time I was flat broke and couldn’t afford to pay for expert workers.

I taught myself basic carpentry just so that I could make quick fixes around the house without paying for a handyman. I learned a little bit here and there, and over the years I actually got to be pretty handy. For the house and the yard, I handle all of the work within reason. When it comes to speciality work like plumbing and HVAC repair, I will now call for an expert, having learned that lesson the hard way! A couple years ago I had an issue with my thermostat, and I thought it would be an easy fix. I watched a couple of Youtube videos, and it seemed pretty straightforward, so I bought a new thermostat and tried to install it myself. It turns out the thermostat was not the right model, and would not work with my equipment. This was confusing, because I thought all thermostats worked with all HVAC equipment, but I learned that was not the case. It cost me two hundred bucks, and I spent a whole day fooling around with it, and it was all for naught. The next day I called an HVAC tech, who fixed it all up and got it running within twenty minutes. Ever since then I don’t bother with the HVAC system at all, whenever there is an issue I will contact an expert.
