What if the AC breaks during this quarantine?

On the one hand, the lockdown has not changed my life very much, because I was a homebody to begin with. I work from my home office, so I can be with my son full time and give him the attention he needs. For the same reason I don’t go out much at night. He has a breathing condition that isn’t debilitating but is very easily triggered by pollen and pollution. As long as he stays inside it’s fine, so the lockdown is not a big change for our day to day lives. On the other hand, we are very dependent on our central HVAC system to maintain the superior air quality we need for his health. Of course I am not so short sighted as to put all my eggs into one basket, so there are some extra air filters that I can use if and when the central system stops working. They are the free standing kind of electric air filters, and they work very well but don’t offer any kind of temperature control. They will be fine to keep the indoor air quality clean and pure for him, but at the same time the place will start heating up and that isn’t good for him either. I have been spending a lot of time online, watching A/C tutorials on Youtube just in case I need to try and fix something myself. Let’s hope it does not come to that, because I am not skilled enough to actually work on an air conditioner, but it makes me feel better to try.
