They owned the HVAC business
Last winter, dad kept his car in the garage so he didn’t need to worry about it freezing. Over the summer, the HVAC system in the garage failed. Dad didn’t know anything about it until he went out to start the car, and nothing happened. Dad knew it was because the battery died from the cold. He had to put the battery charger on the car. Dad was going to be late for work. He phoned mom and told her he wasn’t going to make it to work. Since mom owned the HVAC business, she needed an admin assistant, but it wasn’t going to be dad. He told her the HVAC system in the garage wasn’t working, but owning an HVAC business and doing her own work at home wasn’t happening. Mom often forgot to change the air filters or do the inspections on her HVAC equipment. When she remembered, she’d assign one of her specialists to do the job. Dad asked mom why she would not do their HVAC work, and mom said she did it at work all week. Mom wanted to come home and relax. When dad’s car didn’t start, she did the same thing. Mom asked her top HVAC specialist to pick up a mini split HVAC system and install it in our garage. Dad would not have known he was getting a new HVAC system in the garage if he hadn’t been on the porch and seen the repair van show up. The HVAC specialist got out of the repair van and went into the garage. He did the replacement without bothering dad.
