New furnace/heater installation for the social hall
Dealing with public property and trying to get something approved will lead you towards a tedious road of bureaucracy.
Such was the case when we were trying to get our proposal for upgrading the social hall’s electric heater to a hybrid heating system.
Winters in recent times had gotten worse and the electric furnace was proving to be inadequate when it dropped below certain degrees. We had consulted a heating company that took care of our annual heating maintenance and we were weighing the pros and cons of including hydronic heating. It took so long for the proposal to be approved and the funds disbursed that we had to call the heating dealership and start the process all over again but one thing was certain was that the new heat and AC product would be a hybrid heat pump. The day for the furnace/heater installation finally came. The HVAC repairman and his crew started the installation process bright and early. Those of us who had offices to offer public services in the same building would finally lose the heavy coats in the office during winter. The only thing left after the installation would be regular HVAC maintenance and changing the furnace filter but the management would take care of calling the heating dealership for that. The bureaucracy had taken its sweet time but in the end, we got what we needed. Lucky for us we had started the process way before the onset of winter. By the time it was winter time we had the new system up and running and we would not have to deal with a boiler repair or replacement parts any time soon.
