Window upgrades can improve home equity

When James decided to sell his house, he first wanted to spend some time upgrading some of the components of the condo that were ancient.

  • James wanted to make upgrades that would help his condo become more energy efficient.

One of the first things he did was improve all of the windows to double pane windows with vinyl frames. Single pane windows with aluminum frames are incredibly inefficient. This was causing James’ HVAC proposal to have to labor harder than it should to air condition his condo. Another upgrade that helped the efficiency of his HVAC proposal was installing radiant radiant floors. These radiant floors utilize a heating element underneath the existing flooring, which assists to maintain a consistent ambient temperature of the condo. When the floors are radiating heat, the HVAC proposal doesn’t have to toil so much to heat James’ condo in the winter. One more energy-efficient upgrade he made to the condo was installing a smart temperature control with zone control. A smart temperature control is connected to WIFI. It can be programmed via an app on your cell phone or PC. Zone control is made possible by installing a series of valves within an existing air duct. This can help direct the flow of air throughout the condo. With a smart temperature control plus zone control, James could make sure that his HVAC unit wasn’t running while he’s not home. Also, he’d make sure that he isn’t using energy to treat vacant rooms. With just these three simple upgrades, James raised the energy efficiency of his cond, and added value for when he put it on the market.
