Getting with the smart HVAC
I finally gave in on the smart thermostat.
And I have to say that I was wrong and my wife was one hundred percent correct.
She loves it when this happens. But it’s the truth because we should have had this smart thermostat a long time ago. The thing is just brilliant and really is a remarkable piece of HVAC technology. Of course, I was stubborn and smug about getting on the wifi thermostat bandwagon. In my view, we didn’t need it and we were just following a trend. Plus, I really hate when I buy a piece of technology that then becomes nearly immediately obsolete. But after more than 6 or 7 years of being on the market, the smart thermostat isn’t going anywhere. Finally, I just gave in and called the HVAC company to come install a smart thermostat in our home. It was to be a surprise for my wife. And she was surprised that I finally pulled the trigger and updated our HVAC technology. That was her main argument. We have pretty new HVAC equipment that has a very high SEER rating. Using a smart thermostat allows us to get the very most out of it. And wow, does our wifi thermostat ever do that and then some. The HVAC technician put in some basic parameters representing our heating and cooling needs. But he said the best thing to do would be to leave the smart thermostat alone so it could learn our behavior. This was the key to all the heating and cooling savings that we received right away. When I’m wrong, I’m wrong. And the with the smart thermostat, I am happy to admit that it’s worth every penny and a great addition.
