I thought it was pretty cool when our son was talking about a career day project. They were going to have a few people come in to talk about their careers and some of the kids would be chosen to speak about what they wanted to be when they were grown. My child was actually picked for talking about what he wanted to be, and he asked if I would come in to talk about my career as an HVAC professional. I was honored that he would ask, and I didn’t want to let him down. I happily went in there and told all the kids about the type of work I did. I spoke about installing different systems like gas furnaces, radiant heated floors, and even ductless mini splits. The kids asked a bunch of questions and I even told them how I took my own kid out on different repair calls because he was interested in the work. I had no idea that he was going to talk about being an HVAC professional when he grew up. He said how he was proud of his father for regularly being out there and helping people. He said how I even saved people on different occasions by repairing their gas furnace in the middle of a blizzard. It was dangerous driving conditions, and there was a driving ban, but I still went to help those people. I didn’t think about it often and I was surprised that my son remembered, but it was a touching moment. Everybody clapped when he was done with his presentation, basically saying he wanted to be a hero just like his father.
