Humidifier Helps my Winter Experience

Not long ago, my brother got a new HVAC system installed at his house.

He has quite a large house, so it is no minor thing to completely replace and upgrade the heating and cooling.

He took as much advantage of new HVAC technology as he was able. He got two individual HVAC units – one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. To further divide the house, he got HVAC with zone control so there are different dampers to control the flow of air conditioning into certain rooms. Since he lives alone and the house is huge, the idea is that he shouldn’t be heating and cooling areas of the house that are completely empty. To go along with that, he decided to get a smart HVAC system and a whole home humidifier. The humidifier is what he told me I should get. For the most part, I thought he was nuts because I live in a notoriously humid place – the southeast! However, we do get a winter season here, and I do use the heater for a short while each year. The reason I am always saying I prefer not to use the heating is the fact that the dry, heated air makes me feel awful. My skin flakes off, my lips get chapped, and I get sinus headaches. I absolutely hate it. ONe thing I didn’t know is that the heating dries other things out, too, things like my wooden floors and furniture. My brother showed me a piece of wood that came from a place with a humidifier that worked in tandem with the heater. It looks fine and new. Then he showed me a piece that came from a house with just heating and no humidifier. It was warped and dried and cracked. That sealed the deal for me. I called my HVAC guy and asked for a whole house humidifier to help my winter experience.
